Amy Seto Forrester (she/her) is passionate about diverse, engaging books for developing readers. She draws on a decade of experience as a children’s librarian, a background in the performing arts, and a lifelong love of puzzles, mazes, and all forms of interactive learning. Amy served on the 2016 Geisel Award Committee. She has written pieces for Booklist, School Library Journal, and Calling Caldecott. She currently reviews for Kirkus. Happily rain-drenched, Amy thrives in the Pacific Northwest. She proudly identifies as mixed-race Chinese American.

Amy writes books with her author-illustrator brother, Andy Chou Musser (Ploof, A Home Under the Stars). Their nonfiction pick-your-path Science Explorers series (Chronicle), kicked off with Search for a Giant Squid, and the second book, Search for a Mysterious Mushroom, is forthcoming. Growing up in a tight-knit, mixed race Chinese American family, the siblings have been collaborating on projects (plays, recipes, science experiments) for as long as they can remember.

Beginning reader books hold a special place in Amy’s heart. Since serving on the 2016 Theodor Seuss Geisel Award Committee, she has devoted much of her career to evaluating books and championing services for K-3rd graders. Amy co-founded Guessing Geisel (a mock award blog). She’s also guest blogged and written articles for School Library Journal, Calling Caldecott, and Booklist. She regularly review for Kirkus.
